The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) is pleased to announce the expansion of its partnership with The International Building Operators Association (IBOA) to offer Building Operator Certification (BOC®) training to building engineering and maintenance professionals throughout the state of Utah. This expansion is made possible with the sponsorship of Rocky Mountain Power, which delivers electricity to customers in Utah and is headquartered in Salt Lake City.

IBOA is a non-profit organization offering information and educational opportunities for building operators. The initial partnership between NEEC and IBOA was entered into in 2012 when IBOA became the BOC license holder in Idaho and Montana. To date, IBOA has held three BOC Level I series which produced 31 BOC certificants.

Clarence Wieting and IBOA co-executive director Selena O’Neal pursued the partnership with NEEC. Wieting notes “With this new partnership, IBOA can better serve its members by using NEEC’s up-to-date BOC training curriculum, while focusing its efforts providing its members with training facilitation, regional representatives, and network of people that members and BOC graduates rely on. I feel strongly about the level of support I receive from the NEEC office. They keep in close contact to see if there is anything they can do to help promote the training to our members. We have seen a good turnaround in membership and I believe that the more we get the word out about the training, that trend will continue,” states Wieting.

“We are pleased with IBOA’s delivery of BOC training in the states of Idaho and Montana” said Stan Price, NEEC Executive Director. “Expanding the program to serve operators in Utah was the right move.”

A BOC Level I course is scheduled to begin in Salt Lake City in April of 2014. For more information regarding the BOC program, please visit theboc.info. Details regarding BOC courses offered by IBOA can be found at https://internationalbuildingoperators.org/Training___Registration.html
